I’ve been sitting here wondering why FS1 is dedicating so much air time to the Watkins Glen 6 hour race, which is great , but refused to cover LeMans with anything approaching competency.
The answer I came up with is NASCAR. Not only does NASCAR own this race but Fox has handed Sprint Cup races over to NBC so all of their pre-race/practice, etc. coverage is done. In short, it’s a combination of Rupert Murdoch and Brian France. An unholy alliance if there ever was one.

I think it is more that there isn’t much else going on today. They screw IMSA just as much as they do Le Mans. Just look at the coverage of Sebring.

Ah, but when Sebring is happening Fox has NASCAR rights which puts their focus in Florida, but not in Sebring. If Fox still had Sprint Cup rights I’d bet that the Watkins Glen coverage would be greatly scaled back even though the race was last night.

Issue with LeMans was that they had so many other sporting events they were trying to cover. NASCAR, golf, fighting, truck racing, and LeMans all on less than a handful of channels
This weekend isn’t as crazy

Which is something that would be conflicting with their coverage. There is nothing conflicting with their coverage right now.

That’s pretty much my point. When you add up all of their NASCAR/Sprint Cup coverage, which is a lot more than just the races, plus UFC, which is a lot more than just the fights, there isn’t a whole lot of time left so I’m not sure why they even pretended that they were going to have LeMans on. Plus, I just like blaming things on Rupert Murdoch and Brian France.
